WSC Cheer Tryouts
Wayne State College Cheerleading Tryouts for the 2017-18 school year will be held on Saturday and Sunday, April 1st and 2nd in Rice Auditorium at Wayne State College.
Registration will be held from 12-12:30 p.m. on Saturday, April 1st from and tryout material will be taught from 12:30 till 6:00 pm. Tryouts will be scheduled from 1 - 5 pm on Sunday the 2nd.
Saturday's tryout material will consist of teaching a dance, 2 - 3 cheers and basic stunting skills (preps, cradles, bump-downs) *PREVIOUS KNOWLEDGE OF STUNTING IS NOT REQUIRED!*. PRIOR to tryouts, each individual must have a physical (on the provided form) and get cleared by doctors and have them sign off on the pre-physical form (attached to the bottom of the page) as well as the on-campus tryout form. Individuals also need to bring proof of medical insurance and anyone under the age of 18 will need parent signatures on the forms.
Sunday, the tryout will consist of competing in groups in front of the judges with the dance, cheers and stunting skills learned the day before as well as two jumps (one must be a toe touch and the other a jump of their choice) and any other skills such as tumbling can be done for extra points from the judges.
Girls are asked to wear athletic clothing (shorts and tank tops) the first day of tryouts and then plain black shorts and a plain white shirt the second day of tryouts (do not wear another schools' shirt).
Video tapes will be accepted up until the day of tryouts and will not be accepted after 1:00 pm on April 2nd. (Coming to tryouts is highly recommended) The video must include 1 dance, 2 cheers, 2 jumps, extra skills (stunting or tumbling) and explaining why you want to be a WSC Cheerleader.
